We Care Physician Referral Network

Florida Department of Health in Alachua County

About the We Care Program

The We Care Physician Referral Network (We Care) provides access to necessary volunteer medical and dental services for uninsured residents with low income. This program, which was established by the Alachua County Medical Society (ACMS), is a partnership between the ACMS, the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County, the Alachua County Board of Commissioners, the Alachua County Dental Association, and other community programs. The We Care program components include primary medical care, specialty medical care, and oral health services. Self-referrals are accepted for oral health services. A participating We Care physician must initiate referrals for all medical services. We Care is not an entitlement program. Services are limited by the availability of a volunteer provider.

Eligibility

Eligibility for volunteer medical and dental services is based on several factors including financial situation, access to medical insurance, the presenting medical condition, and the type of service requested. A comprehensive financial statement is required.

Contact Information

The We Care office is open Monday - Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. For information and appointments call 334-7926.
