Grand Opening - Farm to School to Work Hub

The FDOH-Alachua has partnered with the Alachua County Public Schools Farm to School Program to celebrate Food Day. On November 5th, the Alachua County Schools will be celebrating Food Day by hosting their Grand Opening of the Farm to School to Work Hub - a collaboration between the Exceptional Student Education department, and Food and Nutrition Services and Loften High School. Students are learning about the food system from seed to cafeteria plate while acquiring skills in growing, processing, and distributing food. Food grown at and processed through the Hub will be served at 16 schools on a regular basis this Fall. Food Day was on October 24th, but is a year round celebration of healthy, affordable, sustainably produced food and food education. Healthiest Weight Florida has donated a Food Day Banner to the Alachua County Farm to School Program that will be hung up year round in the new facility at W. Travis Loften High School, 3000 E. University Ave., Gainesville, FL 32641. The event will be held on November 5th at 11:30 A at W. Travis Loften High School.
