Green Dot GNV
Green Dot GNV is built on the premise that we can measurably and systematically reduce violence within the Gainesville community, seeking to strengthen intervention services and strategies across multiple forms of violence.
Green Dot GNV offers bystander trainings that provide diverse opportunities and strategies for community members to get involved in violence prevention. The goal of these trainings is to create community engagement that is realistic and manageable in the daily lives of bystanders. Strategies for intervention include the "3 D's", which are:
- Direct: inserting yourself into a potential situation and stopping it by addressing those who are involved
- Delegate: getting someone to intervene for you who might be more equipped or better able to handle the situation
- Distract: defusing a potential situation by distracting those involved and interrupting the choice to create an incidence of violence.
