Education: Paul Myers received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering, both from the University of Florida.


Experience: Paul brings a wealth of experience to his role as Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County in all aspects of public health policy and operations, as well as community and governmental relations. He started at FDOH in 1988 as an Environmental Health Inspector, was promoted to an Environmental Supervisor in 1994, and then became the Environmental Health and Epidemiology Director in 2000. In 2008, he became the Assistant Administrator for FDOH-Alachua until he became its Administrator in 2012. Paul also served as Interim Administrator for FDOH-Gadsden in 2011.


In 2014, Paul served as Interim Deputy Secretary for County Health systems providing leadership and guidance to Florida’s 67 County Health Departments (CHDs) where he reported directly to the State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health. He was officially appointed to this role in 2016 and continued to serve in that expanded capacity until 2019.


Paul currently serves as a member with the Florida Public Health Association and an active member of both the Florida and National Association of City and County Health Officials serving in leadership roles for various committees on policy and legislative matters.
