DOH-Alachua Offering Flu Immunizations

Alachua County, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County (DOH‑Alachua) is now offering influenza vaccinations to the public.

Availability

FluMist is available at school clinics, and both FluMist and traditional flu shots are offered at all DOH‑Alachua clinic locations.

Important Information

  • Appointments are required; call the clinic of your choice to schedule.
  • High-Dose Fluzone or Flublok vaccines are available for adults 65 and older.
  • The regular-dose vaccine costs $25. High-dose vaccine pricing varies. Medicare Part B recipients should bring their card to receive the vaccine at no cost.
  • Children ages 6 months to 18 years may receive the vaccine at no cost if they are uninsured, underinsured, or covered by Medicaid.

Administrator Paul Myers emphasized that getting vaccinated remains the most effective way to prevent the flu and reduce its spread within the community. Myers also encourages residents to stay home when sick, follow proper cough etiquette, and practice frequent handwashing to help protect themselves and others during flu season.
